WHAT IS NANOTECHNOLOGY?
Nanotechnology is the technical process of working on the nano-scale. Each nano-scale molecule is one million times smaller than a grain of sand. Nanotechnology refers to not only the small size of the materials being used, but also how those materials are engineered to perform specific functions.
Traditional coatings make fabric feel stiff and clog the weave of the fabric, preventing breathability. Using nanotechnology, Nano-Tex® treatments are small enough to attach to individual fibers, delivering superior performance characteristics without compromising the look, feel or comfort of the fabric.
WHAT ARE THE PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS PROVIDED BY NANO-TEX®?
Maintains natural hand
Enhances abrasion on almost all textiles
Highly breathable and comfortable
Permanent
Aggressively repels liquids and stains (Liquid beads and rolls off.)
CAN A FLAME TREATMENT BE APPLIED TO A NANO-TEX® ITEM?
Yes, only if the flame treatment is applied before the Nano-Tex® treatment is applied.
CAN A BACKING BE APPLIED TO A NANO-TEX® ITEM?
Yes, the backing process does not have any effect on the Nano-Tex®.
IS NANO-TEX® ORGANIC?
No. Nano-Tex® is a chemical-based product like Teflon®. What makes it environmentally friendly is the small amount of chemicals used in processing.
WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT CUSTOM ORDERING NANO-TEX® TREATMENT FOR FABRICS?
Custom Nano-Tex® application is available for any fabric in our line for a nominal fee. Contact us for pricing information; or, simply enter “Nano-Tex®” in the special instructions box when placing your order and a member of our staff will contact you.
There is a 20 yard minimum for all custom Nano-Tex® orders.
Any orders over 100 yards will require a quotation.
Estimated delivery will be 4 weeks upon approval of a treated sample.
It is recommended to add an additional 10% allowance to Nano-Tex® in the event of shrinkage.
Custom Nano-Tex® orders are special orders; therefore, they are non-cancelable and non-refundable, once a treated CFA has been approved.
Care Instructions for Nano-Tex® Enhanced Fabrics
Dry cleaning is not recommended for Nano-Tex® enhanced fabrics. Spills and stains should be removed from fabrics as soon as possible. While staining will be minimized on Nano-Tex® enhanced fabrics, cleaning may still be necessary. If spills are removed immediately, there will be minimal to no staining on the fabric. If spills go unnoticed for a period of time and staining occurs, the Nano-Tex® enhanced fabric will clean easily and quickly with proper cleaning procedures.
Upholstery Fabrics
Clean liquid spills quickly with a clean, dry cloth.
- For liquid spills, gently blot (don’t rub) spill immediately with an absorbent cloth while spill is still fresh.
- Wipe off with clean water and a clean, dry cloth if needed.
For semi-solid spills, try to lift the spot off of the fabric.
- Working in a circular motion or removing the spill from the side is often the best way to lift a spill from the fabric.
- Change towel surface frequently until spot has been transferred off of the fabric and onto the absorbent cleaning cloth. (Try to avoid pressing the spill or spreading the stain.).
- Wipe off with clean water and a clean, dry cloth if needed.
For stubborn spills:
- If a spill does not come off with water and a clean, dry cloth, add a mild detergent mixed with water and repeat circular motion. (Mild detergents such as Sport Wash®, Tide® Free, or Cheer® Free are recommended.).
- If a stain remains, a solvent may be needed to remove the stubborn stain. It is recommended to use odorless mineral spirits, dry cleaning fluid (Perchloroethylene) or Fantastik® Orange Action™ All Purpose Cleaner.
- Wipe off with water and a clean, dry cloth. (Do not rub harshly. The harder you rub when cleaning a spill, the deeper the soil can penetrate between the fibers.).
- Remove all soap residue from the surface with clean water.
